SHFTHero Employer Spotlight - Laszio from Lillipad Cafe Sydney
We recently sat down with Laszio, who runs Lillipad Cafe Sydney with his wife Nyoka. Located in Glebe, Sydney, Lillipad Cafe is renowned for its hearty breakfast, lunch platters and wide vegan range to suit all tastes.
Joining SHFTHero in January this year, Laszio has been a frequent user of the App, hiring a wide range of freelancers, from Baristas to Waitstaff to Kitchen Hands. Check out our full interview below:
Why do you use SHFTHero?
We use the SHFTHero app on a regular basis, as we are a growing business, looking to figure out the gaps in our roster, and when we need people most. As we are situated next to Glebe Markets, weekends are very very busy for us, so this is often when we need the extra pair of hands.
In your opinion, what is the best thing about SHFTHero?
From our experience, the best thing about SHFTHero is the reliability of the freelancers. Due to the busyness of the weekends, we are in need of freelancers who are punctual, experienced, and have a good attitude. With SHFTHero, we have gotten just that! The freelancers we have hired have been awesome.
How far in advance should you post a shift on SHFTHero?
We often post the shift two days in advance, or even the day of. And so far, the App has worked wonders. A lot of the time we will post the shift and find a freelancer within that same hour!
Do you have any tips for Employers using SHFTHero?
I’d recommend double-checking the freelancer’s experience and skill set before you officially offer them the shift. I normally do this by looking at the freelancer’s SHFTHero profile, or reaching out to them via the SHFTHero in-app messaging. On one occasion when hiring a Barista, I asked a freelancer to send some photos of coffees they had made in the past. Receiving this information really helped and sped up the hiring process.
I’d advise Employers to be specific, and hire freelancers who are particular to a single role. For example, hiring wait staff or kitchen staff.
